Spring Lambs
More lambs, more trade and more buyers, a successful Monday morning sale at Lancaster with, once again, an improved number forward for the sale meeting plenty of demand from seven active buyers at the ringside today. The 39-45kg lambs sold to a market average of 172p/kg, a SQQ average of 171p/kg and overall market average of 167p/kg was achieved. The trade topped three times at £88, firstly from Fred and Mary Woodhouse of Fell End, secondly by Paul Barnett of Bensons Farm and thirdly by George Sanderson of Blackleach House, all with heavy weight Texels. Heavy Suffolks sold to £85, agian, from Paul Barnett. Beltex lambs sold to a market average of 201p/kg for all forward, topping at 203p/kg or £87 from Andrew Foy of Parkside Farm. It was great to have more Mules in the auction today selling to a top price of £76.50 from WI & A Atkinson and Son of Holme House closely followed by Steven Park of Middle Highfield selling to £75, all Mule lambs forward sold to a market average £73.72.
Cast Sheep
It was great to have more cast ewes in Lancaster today with a fresh ewe buyer helping the trade along. It was Texel ewes that topped the trade selling to £82 and £79 with Mule ewes selling to £67 from MJ & K Ayrton of Bambers Farm.
All ewes in the market forward sold to an average of £64.97
